CATHAN MOORE IS A PROFESSIONAL WILDLIFE PHOTOGRAPHER WHOSE WORK IS DEFINED BY HIS UNIQUE ABILITY TO CAPTURE THE SOUL OF THE NATURAL WORLD, CREATING POWERFUL CONNECTIONS BETWEEN HIS SUBJECTS AND VIEWERS.
Born and raised in the heart of South Africa’s Timbavati Private Nature Reserve, Cathan’s intimate knowledge of animal behavior and his deep-rooted connection to the wild allow him to anticipate and capture moments that transcend typical wildlife photography. His images evoke emotion and insight, telling the untold stories of the creatures he encounters. His work, which has been featured on major platforms like Discovery, BBC, and Fox, showcases his commitment to wildlife conservation and the importance of capturing fleeting moments in nature.
Having earned a Diploma in Commercial Photography from Tshwane University of Technology and certification as a field guide from the Field Guides Association of Southern Africa (FGASA), this blend of photographic and ecological knowledge equips him to lead clients on photographic expiditions with a rare depth of understanding, guiding them to capture not only the perfect shot but also connect meaningfully with their subjects. His ability to read the rhythms of nature and understand the subtle behaviors of wildlife enhances the photographic experience, allowing clients to anticipate moments that would otherwise pass unnoticed.
Cathan's photographic leadership goes beyond the lens — he provides guidance and mentorship to help clients create imagery beyond face value, sharing his extensive knowledge of wildlife and fieldcraft. His photographic tours blend creativity with ethical wildlife interaction, allowing clients to capture extraordinary images while respecting the natural world. Whether guiding photographers across Southern Africa, or beyond, Cathan’s relaxed yet focused manner ensures that each guest connects deeply with the landscapes and wildlife they encounter.
Each photograph Cathan helps create is a testament to his passion for conservation and his belief that the act of photographing wildlife is an act of stewardship — preserving moments that might otherwise be lost forever.
